A newsroom for what feeds and defends a country.
Nashur is a newsroom and media house covering agriculture and defense. The name comes from the Arabic root nashr — to spread, to circulate, to publish outward — and نشر, the word in our logo, means publishing. That is the whole brief.
The mission
To be the first place people check for agriculture and defense news in the region — reported properly, and readable without a glossary.
The ambition
We start in the Gulf because that is where we are and where the gap is widest. The reporting is for readers everywhere from day one.
More desks open once these two are established, under the same standards. Deliberately not at launch.
One newsroom. Every format.
The same reporting, made for however you take in news — on a page, on a screen, in your inbox or in a room.
Reporting
At launchDaily news from both desks: what happened, who decided it, and what it changes. Named sources, real datelines.
Analysis
At launchLonger pieces that go past the headline — the numbers behind a harvest, a contract or a budget line, explained without a glossary.
The briefing
At launchA short email for each desk. Agriculture every weekday morning, defense once a week. Nothing else in your inbox.
Video
Rolling outExplainers and interviews on YouTube, Instagram and Snapchat, built from the desks' reporting and presented on camera.
Reports and data
Rolling outIn-depth reports and data series on food security, water and procurement — charted so a reader can check them rather than take them on trust.
Events
LaterRoundtables and briefings that put the people we report on, and the people who read us, in the same room.
How a story gets to you.
Step 01: Reported
By a journalist on the desk, from the region, talking to the people who do the work — not rewritten from someone else's copy.
Step 02: Sourced
Figures, contracts and quotes are sourced in the piece. Where a name is withheld, the story says why.
Step 03: Edited
A desk editor reads every piece before it runs. On defense, that read includes the operational-detail check.
Step 04: Corrected in public
If we get something wrong, the correction goes at the top of the story, dated, and stays there.
Two industries worth trillions, and barely covered.
These are not small industries and they are not adequately reported. They are the two that decide whether a country eats and whether it holds its ground.

Who reads Nashur.
A small audience that is almost entirely decision-makers, and the people about to become them.

Five goals our two desks report on.
Agriculture and defense are where much of the goals gets decided in practice. We report on the people and the decisions behind them. That is the claim, and it is the whole claim.
Goal 2: Zero hunger
Food security, imports and reserves are standing beats on the agriculture desk.
Goal 6: Clean water and sanitation
Desalination, reuse and irrigation — what water costs before it reaches a field.
Goal 9: Industry, innovation and infrastructure
Agritech on one desk, the defense industrial base on the other.
Goal 12: Responsible consumption and production
Food waste, water use and supply-chain sourcing, covered as business stories rather than as sustainability copy.
Goal 16: Peace, justice and strong institutions
Regional security and how procurement decisions get made, reported from inside the region.
