By a journalist on the desk, from the region, talking to the people who do the work — not rewritten from someone else's copy.
Step 02: Sourced
Figures, contracts and quotes are sourced in the piece. Where a name is withheld, the story says why.
Step 03: Edited
A desk editor reads every piece before it runs. On defense, that read includes the operational-detail check.
Step 04: Corrected in public
If we get something wrong, the correction goes at the top of the story, dated, and stays there.
